What Do I Want To Know About Assessment?

What do I want to know about assessment?

1) How can I provide constructive student feedback without hindering their progress, or potentially damaging their confidence in their academic ability?

Because the goal of assessment is to improve student learning, I would like to learn different ways that I can implement assessment strategies that are constructive to students, rather than making them feel that their work is not enough, or meeting certain expectations. Due to the amount of students that require differentiated learning, I would like to learn how I assess progress in fair ways that serve to promote learning for all students. I would like to assess their current levels of understanding, while providing feedback on how they can improve, to ensure everyone is reaching their fullest potential in the classroom.

2) How can I create evaluation tools for different activities?

This is a more tangible question regarding assessment, but I would like to know how to incorporate curriculum expectations into a rubric. I would also like to learn how to determine in which ways I should assess students. In what ways can I incorporate differentiated learning into these assessments, whether it be the product that students create, or the ways in which they are evaluated. I do not have experience creating rubrics or other assessment tools, and I want to ensure that the learning objectives are clear, in order for students to be successful.
